updating email lists

Mon, 24 Jun 2002 17:15:22 -0700 (PDT)

Dear friends,

This is the long email. Please reply to the NEXT, SHORTER one and not this longer one. Short version of news: I came, I hid, and then I left California. Sorry if I didnøt get to see you, I will explain more in the other letter, but the short version is – my parents are moving. To China. So I had to pack and throw many childhood memories away *sniff*.

Next news. I am travelling through Europe until Aug 13th with my little sister. Hostels, Eurail, first tour of Europe thing. (So if anybody has family friends in Europe who will take pity on two travellers, or who knows of any good recommendations of cheap (free) places to stay, I’d love to hear about them.) No easy access to computers except at expensive cafes, so my notes will be few and far between. I’m actually composing this note in between exhibits at a København art museum.

After that, yes, I will be returning to the cruise ship, the Crystal Symphony, where I will presumably have an income and a computer again, and will be able to write more frequently =). Um... I am not planning to return to California until next May, so any contact between you and me will be primarily through email, so those of you I haven’t hear from, shape up! =) And write. I would dearly love to keep up and hear about what’s happening in your lives.

Finally to the relief of certain unnamed individuals, I have set up a forwarding account at my alma mater, Santa Clara University, so _personal_ emails can all be forwarded now to debbiechang@scualum.com , and I will receive it in my current email account DebbieInEurope2k2@yahoo.com. (Note: Please be sure to have that 2k2 because apparently there is somebody else who thinks she is DebbieInEurope!!! What nerve. ;))

A majority of people receiving this email, I haven't heard from in a while (ever?). So if you want to continue receiving email updates, please write back.

If you want postcards (probably not til Sept when I have income), write back with your address.

If I did not talk to you when I came home, or if we haven’t exchanged emails in the last 6 months, please write back to confirm that you are alive and still using this email and that you want to continue receiving the emails, otherwise I will assume that the email is no longer checked, and do my part to reduce internet spam and remove you from my updates.

Oh, if we haven’t spoken in six months, you should also write what you’ve been up to this year, family, friends, work, relationships, gossip, new ideas, (aka. Your version of an excuse for not keeping in touch.) :) My excuse is that everything I think and do eventually ends up in the updates, so I have nothing individual and personal to think unless you provide it. I usually do return all the emails. Eventually. Like a month or so. =) (I LIVE ON A SHIP!! =))

Ack... this is about as short as I can make this letter, so reply to the next one.
