Debbie's past, present, and Future

the shortest version

We'll see how good I get at this attempt.

Hello friends and family. I think it may have been a year since my last update! Sorry for the delay. On the positive note, I have seen a lot of my family this year, two trips to Taiwan, as well as a fabulous cruise with all of my family on board.

In my efforts to keep this short, I'll just try to give you the bare bones of what's been up with me. I think my last email out to everyone may have been as long ago as... I can't recall. I sent one to one group in early December, promising to send out a short one, but I can't find evidence of the short one so I may not have sent that either.

Anyway, you don't care. Just the facts, ma'am:

In December, I was working once again on the Crystal Harmony, the oldest of the three sister ships in the Crystal fleet. I had a good time there, plus a short one-month vacation in March, and then continued on the Harmony until just recently, about Sept 15th ish. The March vacation was a couple of days in Hawaii... (hmm, didn't I send a short email with a pic of me surfing??) followed by a couple of days in California... followed by a week in Taiwan, followed by a week in Nanjing, China. Frantic, fun, and exhausting.

In April, I signed back on the Crystal Harmony, did part of the Asia season and then an entire Alaska season. I enjoy Alaska. I don't mind repeating ports, and I have to admit I especially liked the internet available at all these American ports. I'm ashamed to say that this did not seem to help me write emails to y'all.

Signed off in September, did some time in Taiwan for my cousin's wedding reception, hung out with my huge family there, contemplated my future a lot. See why at the end.

In a couple of days, I will be leaving California to go to a Lighting industry conference in Orlando, Florida, which I am very excited about because I've wanted to go for three or four years and I'm finally getting to go now. The timing isn't ideal, but that's me, and impulse shopping. Oh well. :)

After that, I fly to Lisbon, Portugal November 16 to the Crystal Serenity. She will cross over to the Caribbean, then continue to Los Angeles, where she will begin her next, and my last, World Cruise.

Yes, my friends, I am seeing my last contract on Crystal Cruises for the forseeable future. I sign off the World Cruise sometime in May. I'll attend my sister Melody's college graduation. After that, in June I'm going over to Australia to become a supermodel. Well, a working model anyway. That's the plan and the hope. I managed to get a Working Holiday Visa to Australia and I am allowed to work there for up to twelve months at different temporary jobs. It is technically a Holiday (vacation to us Americans) visa, which I will happily fulfill the obligations to by taking a road trip (or two) around the continent. I'll probably settle down first in Sydney or Melbourne... hoping Sydney, because I've been concentrating my research efforts there. Then perhaps a road trip, and then perhaps Melbourne for a few remaining months. Who knows? I'll play it by ear when I get there. Who is from Oz or has been there that has suggestions on where (or how) to go? (Backpacking, driving, et cetera)

Yesterday, I planned out my budget for the next year... HOW do you people with rent LIVE?? I am contemplating paying for rent for the first time in my whole life. It's very scary. I don't want to dip into savings so I am hoping that my earnings from the next six months on the ship will be enough for me to live on for the twelve months following. I could very well be poor and hungry for nine months. Well. Not hungry, probably. But still. I am researching where to live in Sydney, how much rent and utitlities and furnishing etc, where to work, whether I should buy a car or what. Advice, anyone from Oz?

Okay. You guys are all probably raising your eyebrows at the modeling thing, those who haven't heard already. See here:

http://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=37666 So I'll be going round to agencies, and keeping my fingers crossed, and asking questions and asking for help. Good luck to me!

Okay. This is as short as I could get it. Sorry for not responding to so many emails! I should do another email address list purge and update of everyone too. I may send out a Thanksgiving letter if I get my act together. Love you all. Debs.

Oh, if anyone is desperate to call me, you can still reach me by phone until Tuesday. or Sunday? I don't know when about the phone, yet.

Hugs, Debbie
