School, once again

In the city where I grew up, there is a very well regarded community college. Lots of adults go there for continuing education. A good number of my classmates attended this college after graduating from high school. A lot of students even went here ~during~ high school, whether non traditional 'middle college' high school students, or summer students recovering from low grades throughout the year (that would be me), or even over-achieving Berkeley contenders.

I went there myself, once for Calculus? (no, transcript says AlgII/Trig, that makes sense, it was the bf who took Calc), during summer, and after college, I took an automotive course... it's one of the best auto tech mechanics programs. (I don't remember finishing that class. Don't know what I was doing but I recall sleeping through a good deal of it. I do remember the first class where they taught us an engine is quite comparable to a human body.)

And now, I'm preparing to register at this school to satisfy my prerequisites this autumn. (Hmm, that wasn't quite grammatical. Oh well, won't be taking English :)) I expect to need a biology course, a chem course or three :(, and a stats course. I also hope to take Chinese, and possible Econ, but with a load like this I think I'll take Econ in the winter quarter.

And I've discovered a pretty good resource online that has reviews of college profs around the country. It's controversial and honestly, the reviews are quite suspect, considering many people rate according to the grade they got. But reading it with older eyes I can recognize the younger students who have always had their hand held in high school classes and have never taken a college level course, the whiners who are taking the required class and only want an easy A but don't want to do the work, and the practical ones who review the 'difficult but worth it' teachers. Taken with a grain of salt, I think it makes for a very useful resource. There are flaws but there are also a huge number of reviews from being online for many years.

I'm aiming for the 'difficult to get an A but will teach' teachers (above those for an 'easy A').... I'm hoping I won't regret that choice!!!

Wish luck.

ETA: Okay, I've put in my application, turns out I actually won't be registering until almost the end of August. And, now that I'm a student again, I can see my old transcript. In a word, OUCH. This may hurt. I'll have to work on my reasoning. And potentially wait until grades come out before getting accepted. Cripes.
