text msg rant

rant

you know what?
not everyone has smart phones
not everyone has free text messages
if I ever get a phone with free text messages (and anyone who is a friend of mine who has free text messages, please take note)
I am going to put an asterisk next to all of my phone contacts that DO get free text messages (or who don't, whatever, just so I know the dif.)

and then, I will make an effort to NOT TEXT THEM. I get a lot of free minutes each month that people aren't using anymore. I get free calls from everyone that uses Verizon. I get free weekend and evening minutes. If it's the weekend, just call me! Instead of writing me ten text msgs.

Not only that, but I get a total of 50 text msgs on my phone, before my phone stops getting new texts. Also, I'm kind of a hoarder, I don't like throwing things away and this includes msgs. So if you text me, and I haven't deleted lately, I'm not gonna get your text message. Until some time. Because it takes some time after deletion for the msg to come through again. sometimes a couple of minutes, sometimes ten or twenty. So try calling.

Most annoying text messages received by those of us who pay per message (sample size 1)
"Hi / Hey Debbie." (eom)
"Ok"
"Thanks"
"see you"
etc
also, any message that takes more texts than necessary, like 3 msgs in a row, or whatever. In other words, inefficient texting.

This is the main reason why I don't respond to phone text messages if the message is clear and doesn't have a question mark and doesn't really need a response.

Sigh. Or just email me. I like that a lot more.

it reminds me of when people would IM me and just say "hi" and expect an answer. or email. when I say "hi" it means, hi i'm thinking of you if you're bored too, pay attention to me. in other words, if all you say to me is "hi", you're unlikely to get a response unless I'm feeling chatty. if you have something to say or if you want my attention, you'd better have a more persuasive reason from the get-go.
or an email response that says "Thanks."
in email life, it's kind of redundant. or at least, unnecessary.

sorry. just venting. i'm over it now. sort of.
