i'm writing a paper on chinese environmental ngos, and when reading academic papers for research, i can't help but always check out who wrote the piece. specifically-- is it a chinese name or not?
does a chinese name make an article seem more credible? reality or fiction? can a person who did not grow up chinese ever really understand? you know what I mean? It's like, can a person who did not grow up in poverty really understand, and implement relevant policies? Can a man really understand the struggle of the glass ceiling and equal pay discrimination? is this total prejudice? or grain of truth? or something to keep in mind without closing off the mind completely? whats the likelihood that a chinese author would be totally biased or unreliable as a objective source?
